About me
Hi, I’m Emily, an accredited Psychological Therapist with experience of supporting people facing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties. I enjoy helping people better understand themselves, develop practical skills, and create meaningful and lasting change to the way they feel.
Throughout my career to date, I've worked across both mental and physical health services, helping people navigate anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, trauma, low self-esteem, perfectionism, and the emotional impact of life's challenges.
With over 15 years’ experience working in mental health and over 10 years working within physical health settings, I've had the privilege of working with a wide range of individuals – from professionals, veterans and generally people navigating challenges to their health, to young people facing anxiety within a college setting and new parents seeking support from a mental health charity.
I'm predominantly trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). I integrate elements of Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) to enhance the sessions further, keeping them tailored to you and your goals.
As a Senior Cognitive Behavioural Therapist in a community pain management team, I developed specialist expertise in supporting people living with chronic pain, helping them manage the day-to-day challenges of their condition, not only the physical symptoms, but the emotional, psychological, and social challenges that come with them. I’ve worked closely with individuals who felt stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from the life they once knew, helping them find ways to move forward with greater understanding and self-compassion.
I also work within a multidisciplinary team led by a Cardiologist, supporting people to reduce their risk of heart disease through stress management, improving quality of sleep and making sustainable lifestyle changes.
Throughout my career, I've delivered workshops and group courses, but my focus has always been, and remains, on working with individuals one-to-one, approaching each person with a plan that fits their unique needs and circumstances. Whether you're facing the daily challenges of chronic pain, managing stress, or feeling overwhelmed by life's demands, my work focuses on helping you understand, navigate and manage your thoughts, emotions and behaviours in order to help you feel better in yourself.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and walking my dog in the countryside; moments that help keep me grounded and connected to what matters most.
How I can help
You might be experiencing...
Anxiety that's stopping you enjoying life
Constant overthinking or worry
Feeling overwhelmed or burnt out
Low mood or loss of motivation
Trauma that's still affecting you today
Self-criticism or low confidence
Perfectionism that's keeping you stuck
The emotional impact of chronic pain or a physical health condition
Difficulty adjusting to change or uncertainty
You don't have to face these challenges alone. Together we will work to understand what is keeping you stuck, develop more compassion in your thinking, look at strategies to reduce the weight of the thoughts, create distance from the self critical narrative and implement practical skills that will help you to identify the triggers and support you in managing the challenges, should they arise in future.
Therapy for the emotional impact of physical health
Having worked in a Community Pain Management team for 10 years, I have extensive experience and a passion for supporting people with the challenges of their physical health. Living with pain or a long-term health condition can affect every aspect of your life, not just your body. I provide therapy to help people navigate the emotional challenges of living with ongoing health conditions and teach skills to help manage the day to day effects which are often associated with health conditions.
